About Bumrungrad International Hospital
Bumrungrad International Hospital opened in Bangkok's Watthana district in 1980 as a 200-bed hospital with four physicians, and it has grown into a 580-bed hospital with more than 1,200 physicians and dentists. In 2002 it became the first hospital in Asia accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), which checks hospitals against international safety and quality standards, and it has held that accreditation ever since. By its own count, patients from more than 180 countries come here each year.
Trans care has its own home: the Pride Clinic, opened in June 2021 on the 16th floor of Building A and working to WPATH guidance. Hormone therapy is led by endocrinologist Asst. Prof. Sira Korpaisarn, and the clinic brings surgery, hormones, voice support and help with legal documents into one department. Around it stands a full general hospital, intensive care included, which is exactly what you want behind any major operation.
If you are flying to Bangkok for surgery, possibly on your own, Bumrungrad is ready for you. A hospital counter at Suvarnabhumi Airport runs a free shuttle into the city, the International Patient Services Center's coordinators help with appointments, embassy letters and visa extensions, and more than 100 full-time interpreters work across the hospital at no charge. The contact centre answers 24 hours a day, and the Pride Clinic has its own direct line, +66 2 011 5611.
For trans men, the Pride Clinic offers top surgery, hysterectomy, metoidioplasty and phalloplasty, with your testosterone looked after by the same team before and after. Use your first call to get your surgeon and plan confirmed in writing. This is information to help you decide, not medical advice; your surgeon will tell you what suits you.
